Tasks
- Design and implement solutions that structure medical data efficiently, support clinicians in creating medical documentation and improve overall patient visit workflow
- Improve quality of results from LLMs by applying various techniques like fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs) for the medical domain
- Collaborate with other team members as well as healthcare professionals to understand their needs, translate them into technical requirements and evaluate feasibility of solutions
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and methodologies from the domain of AI, machine learning and NLP
- Provide technical leadership to other team members
- Communicate complex technical details in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders
- Adhere to ethical AI practices and data privacy regulations
- Gain understanding of medical terminologies and clinical data models
Requirements
- Professional hands-on experience in software engineering, with a focus on NLP, generative AI and general software engineering practices.
- Proficiency in Python or Java with experience in libraries used for interacting with LLMs (LangChain, AutoGen, LangChain4J, Huggingface or vendor-specific libraries)
- Experience with deep learning models, especially Large Language Models, including fine-tuning, RAG, function calling, implementation and optimization of models like GPT-4, Gemini, Claude, Mistral, PaLM 2 etc.
- Experience with delivering LLM-powered applications to production environments, including observability and evaluation on productionalized applications
- Experience in Prompt Engineering and various prompting techniques (eg. few-shot prompting) to enhance LLM’s performance on specific tasks.
- Strong experience working with machine learning and natural language processing techniques and tools.
- Ability to deliver solutions from ideation until production
- Professional experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud with focus on cloud services related to machine learning, NLP
- Proven track of leading a cross-functional technical team
- Fluent English
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience working with standard medical terminologies like SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm
- Experience building solutions for data structurization, named entity recognition, AI-powered assistants (similar to GitHub Copilot)
- Hands-on experience with clinical data models and using NLP to explore EHR records
- Experience using key Python packages for data wrangling, machine learning and deep learning such as pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, transformers etc.
- Experience with OCR and understanding of its application in document analysis and recognition
- M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent degree
